Experts have found fossil-like clues that there was some kind of life on Earth 4.1-billion years ago – that`s 300-million years earlier than previously thought.
Researchers examined grains of the mineral zircon from western Australia`s Jack Hills and dated them to when Earth was barely 400-million years old.
Inside one, they found carbon residue suggesting it`s a remnant of a colony of tiny, unknown organisms.
Their findings change the way scientists believed Earth was like soon after it was formed 4.5-billion years ago.
This gives them reason to theorize that life is possible throughout the universe.
The report`s in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.
